What a busy week it has been!

Ok so my lack of posting comes from being much busier than usual. I have been trying to clean out the garden, at least those plants that are no longer producing food. Canning what I can. I think I am done until my tomatoes really start to go crazy then I will do salsa and spaghetti sauce. But to top it all off I was called by a near by school to come and substitute for the first 2-3 weeks of school this year. So I have been busy preparing a classroom for second graders. The teacher I am filling in for though is great and she had a lot of stuff done before I got there. So on Tuesday school starts! Right now my sister Kayla is here for a visit over the long Labor Day weekend. Next weekend we are having the family birthday party for Kjerstin. Can you believe she will be 5? So it will once again be a very busy few weeks. Ah, you know the summer is ending when school starts. I just don't want it to end!

Birthdays Celebrated

While LeighAn and her kids were here we celebrated Dayton's and Kjerstin's birthdays, which, are both early Sept. Birthdays. LeighAn is Kjerstin's Godmother. It was pretty fun. Kjerstin got a Hannah Montanna shirt that mom always refused to by for her, so Auntie came to the rescue and got her one! What a lucky girl!

My Sister Came for a Visit

Dayton and Ashlyn. Ashlyn loved Dayton.

Dayton, Ashlyn, and Kehan on the trampoline.

Adam and Dayton dug hug holes at the lake and barried themselves inside the holes. Kjerstin had fun helping!

LeighAn and her oldest, Adam.

Here are a few pictures of my sister LeighAn's visit to our house in Mid August. The kids really had a blast together. It has been 3 years since she has been able to make it up so it was a very nice visit and it was great to have my nephews here for a while!

Ashlyn's Favorite Spot

Ashlyn has begun to love the bathroom sink. She is a climbing in every sense! I find her in the sink serveral times a day if the door has been left open for her. She climbs onto the toilet and then up on the counter and into the sink. During her bath one day I step out of the bathroom for maybe two minutes to see what Kjerstin and Kehan were bickering about in the next room and came back to find no baby in the bath tub. Yes, she was in the sink brushing her teeth! Last week during her bath which she was taking with Kehan I walked away to check on supper and started to hear the water running in the bathroom. I walked back to find her in the sink with the water running using the hand soap to wash! She is such a funny kid the things she gets into!

Michael Phelps

This has nothing to do with our family life but it is such an amazing accomplishment that I have nothing but respect for that I had to post about it.

Can you believe 16 Olympic medals 14 of them gold. 8 Olympic gold medals in one Olympic games, winning each race he entered. Eight for eight! Tonight was a night of history making. I am so glad I got to witness it live, thanks to modern technology. Now in years to come and I am watching the olympics with grandchildren I can pass on my own story of seeing history being made.

Mark Spitz said it best to Michael Phelps last night after tying his record of 7 Olympic gold medals in a single Olympic game. "You are epic".

What a legacy for United States Swimming to continue!

Congratulations Michael Phelps!

He loves the mother. Why not the children?

This is the puppy Blaze. He is the puppy who has killed 3 kittens this summer. This picture was taken this morning. Blaze has killed two of Cleo's kittens. Both of them black, one had the name Bear. Why he loves the mom and kills the kids I am not sure. I think he is just trying to play but in the end he kills them. I believe I should be named Kitten Defender of the Year. I have saved many kittens from certain death by Blaze this summer. Just today I probably took a kitten away 7-9 times. He just wont leave them alone.

Why I am glad we live in the country...

Yesterday after the rain stopped I let Kjerstin and Kehan go outside and play in the puddles. They found a big one and were having fun. I came in the house and looked out the window a few minutes later and this is what I saw...

Notice the clothes and his hat all piled up by his tricycle. He got his clothes wet and thought he should just take them off. At one point he was face down trying to swim in the puddle.

Here he was pretending to be a frog!

What a kid! He has a tendency to take his clothes off. I am very thankful we live in the country and no one else can witness these things happening.

Our little lady

What a little lady we have. She eats her brownie with a fork! Ashlyn is getting pretty good at using utensils. Mostly the fork to spoon still needs some work as she always turns it funny so everything slides off the spoon before it gets in her mouth. She certainly enjoys trying though.

Kehan's Adventures

One day last week Kehan fell on one of the trailers we have. He came out with a hand full of slivers. He was screaming so bad and not letting me get them out I told him to sit with his hand in a bowl of warm water. I went about taking care of Ashlyn and getting her in bed and I came back to fine him a sleep with his hand in the bowl. There was water on the floor too. He would start to fall into a deeper sleep and his hand would relax and cause the bowl to tip a bit, then he would immediately straighten his hand back up. It was hard for me even to take his hand out of the water because he knew he was supposed to keep it in there.

Our little man is trying his hand at being a plumber. To quote his dad, "That is where the money is, go be a plumber." If anyone has had a plumber out to their house you know what it costs per hour to have them there.

Ashlyn in all of her cuteness

Isn't she just so cute?! Here are the PJs that say it all. She has really started to look at books a lot now too.

Here is my skinny little baby, but we had to prove that she does get a big belly after she eats. Oh, and she loves her baths!

Jet Ski

Ashlyn went for her first jet ski ride with her daddy. This was July 26. She had fun until the water splashed in her face when he turned to come back.

Garden Pictures

I thought it would be nice to post some pictures of my garden and some flowers that are growing in one of my flower beds. As you can see is some spots maybe or maybe not I need to do some more weeding. I have kept up pretty good this year! Usually by this time the weeds have over taken my gardens. I guess it goes to show that my kids are getting older, oh, and I am not recovering from a c-section this year, that helps a lot!
Does anyone know the name of this flower?? I think it is some kind of daisy but I am not sure. It is orange with a brown ring like center. I also have the same flower in yellow.

Ok how about this one, does anyone know what this is? It is the same as in the next picture. This one is orange the other one is yellow.

My vegetable garden. I think I will have way too many tomatoes for my needs. If you would like some tomatoes let me know and I will let you know when they are ready.

Here is our ONE squash plant! I swear it grows by 3 feet in diameter every day! Once again come fall-September, let me know if you want some squash! We do not eat it. I plant it purely for Quinten's mom and grandmother!

Sleeping Kjerstin

Here is Kjerstin just the way she fell asleep last night. Our children love books and this shows you just how much! She couldn't put the book down even though her eyes were getting so heavy...just one more page mom, please!
